  • Imperial Heavy Infantry or Space-Dout Sam

This Imperial Heavy Infantry is a Bob Naismith sculpt from the earliest Rogue Trader releases. He’s also shown in the later Mercenaries range as “Space-Dout Sam”.

He can be seen in White Dwarf #95:

He’s a variant sculpt of the Imperial Heavy Trooper (no idea which one may have been first…).

  • Imperial Heavy Trooper

    Imperial Heavy Trooper

This was one of the first Rogue Trader releases and is down as an Imperial Heavy Trooper. He’s a Bob Naismith sculpt, and shares the same basic sculpt as the Imperial Heavy Infantry.

For something different, I tried painting using four paint pots in four hours – so I picked a Zorn palette:

    • Red: Kimera’s The Red
    • Yellow: Kimera’s Cold Yellow
    • White: Kimera’s The White
    • Black: Kimera’s Carbon Black

In the end it probably wasn’t the best mini choice for testing out that colour scheme and trying to use such a limited palette; I don’t think my NMM skills are sufficient to get enough separation from the grey uniform with so few colours!

He’s a variant sculpt of the Imperial Heavy Infantry.

  • Metal Rogue Trader Robot Arms and Weapons

Here are some of the weapons I have found for the Rogue Trader robots.

On the left are the bolter and flamer arms, and the right one is an autocannon.

Like the robots, they’re Bob Naismith sculpts.

  • Metal Rogue Trader Robot – Conqueror

This robot was the Conqueror class back in the Rogue Trader days. I have an overview of the robots range here.

    It’s a Bob Naismith sculpt.

  • Metal Rogue Trader Robot Colossus

This robot was the Colossus class back in the Rogue Trader days. I have an overview of the robots range here.

    It’s a Bob Naismith sculpt.

  • Metal Rogue Trader Castellan Robot – Warhammer 40K

This robot was the Castellan class back in the Rogue Trader days. I have an overview of the robots range here.

    It’s a Bob Naismith sculpt.

  • Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader Robots Overview

In White Dwarf #104 there’s a Chapter Approved article showcasing the new Robots range.

    The names:

    Crusader, Conqueror, Cataphract, Castellan, Colossus.

    The article has art throughout:

    It also has livery shown:

I asked Bob Naismith if he sculpted them and he said that he thought they were his, so I have credited them appropriately.

  • Old World Jack Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader Metal

I was expecting this guy to have a backpack bump on his back but he doesn’t; and it doesn’t look like one was cut off either!

He’s a Bob Naismith sculpt from 1987 and was from the RT7 Mercenary line.

    Painted:

    • Undercoat: Vallejo Mecha Black
    • Orange: Kimera’s Orange, shaded by mixing in Kimera’s Ultramarine, highlighted by mixing in Kimera’s Cold Yellow
    • Black/Grey: Kimera’s Carbon Black, highlighted by mixing in Kimera’s The White
    • Metal: Scale75 Black Metal, followed by Cobalt Alchemy, followed by a highlight of Speed Metal, followed by a wash of gloss Nuln Oil
    • Blue: Kimera’s Phthalo Blue Red Shade, highlighted by mixing in Ultramarine and The White
    • Yellow: Kimera’s The White followed by Cold Yellow
    • Scar: Kimera’s Magenta
    • Skin: Kimera’s The White followed by Scale75’s Pale Skin, then a mix of the two for highlights, and Kimera’s Oxide Brown Medium and Oxide Brown Dark for shading. A little bit of Red Oxide mixed in to Pale Skin for blushed areas.
    • Leather: Kimera’s Oxide Brown Medium or Royal Brown as the base, shaded by mixing in Ultramarine with Royal Brown, highlighted by mixing in Cold Yellow.
    • Base: Kimera’s Red Oxide, followed by Scale75’s Reddish Brown pigment, then Natural Soil, and a little bit of Sand pigment on the rocks. Wild Tuft is the front one and the back I don’t recall – maybe AK? Base rim is Vallejo Black Grey.

  • RT Mercenary: Breakout Con

This metal Rogue Trader Mercenary was a Bob Naismith sculpt and shares his base head sculpt with Brother Dimshade. He goes by the moniker Breakout Con.

  • Metal Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader Space Marine Communications Officer Orinoco or Kendall

This Rogue Trader Space Marine went by Orinoco or Kendall. He’s a Bob Naismith sculpt. I can make out “GW” scratched into the tab but nothing useful as far as the date goes.
