  • Cypher – Dark Angels Space Marine

Cypher was a metal Warhammer 40K Space Marine 1998 sculpt by Mike McVey, as per the 2000 catalogue. Oldhammer? Considered so by some!

He’s one of the Fallen Dark Angels, and this particular mini is missing one of his gun arms and the Lion’s sword on his back.

  • Metal Mordian Iron Guard Missile Launcher Imperial Guardsman

This guy is a 1998 sculpt (one of the last Mordian ones?) and was designed by Michael Perry. The body was part number 010508602 and the launcher arm 010805603.

There was a loader Guardsman to match.

  • Metal Legion of the Damned Shoulder Pads Space Marines Warhammer 40K

These pads are marked as 1998 on the tab. The 1999 catalogue page credits everything on that page to Jes Goodwin, Mike McVey, Dave Perry and Mark Bedford – I don’t know which one did the shoulder pads.

  • Space Marine Commander

This metal Space Marine was the Commander or Captain model from the Command Group box released in 1998, and is a Jes Goodwin sculpt from that same year.

He was part number 010110301 in the 1999 catalogue where Jes is credited or 9947010110301 elsewhere.

  • Metal Space Marine Apothecary from Games Day and the Command Group box

This guy was part number 010110304 and was apparently seen as a Games Day miniature in 1998.

  • Space Marine Veteran Sergeant from the Command Group – Metal Miniature

This guy is from the Command Group and is part number 010110303 in the catalogues. He’s a Jes Goodwin sculpt.

Looks like 1998 as the sculpting date, and I can find him in the 1999 catalogue. He’s meant to have the character backpack sprue 99399999008, but this guy is missing the backpack.

    Designed by Jes Goodwin.

  • Techmarine, Command Squad

This Games Workshop Warhammer 40K Techmarine was released as part of the Company Command box set a month before 3rd edition hit, give or take – which would put him at being released in late 1998. Still using the same metal backpack as the older 2nd Ed. Techmarines, his sculpt is a mirror of the Captain with Terminator Honours and various others. It’s a 1998 Jes Goodwin sculpt.

In the 2004 US catalogue this miniature is part number 010110305 with backpack 010107503 and axe/hand 010110306.

    A 360deg view:

I was painting the metal guys up as a Raven Guard successor when I got him, so he has been stripped for repainting in blue. The RG successor scheme:

Classic Metal Techmarine Sculpt from Warhammer 40K painted in a Raven Guard Successor Chapter scheme. From 2nd Edition.

All painted using Scale75 with the exception of some washes and a contrast – in the scheme of a Raven Guard sucessor that is as yet unnamed. Back when I was playing 2nd. Ed I called them the Harbingers, but that name is actually a canon chapter now (perhaps it was then too) so I need to find another.
