    Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader Female Warrior Gabs

    This lass went by Female Warrior Gabs and has 1987 on the tab. She’s part of the RT601 Adventurers range.

    I can’t tell who sculpted what in the RT601 range – the list of people who sculpted things on that page is Trish and Aly Morrison, Bob Naismith, Mark Copplestone and Jes Goodwin.

    • Blue: Scale75 Art Cobalt Blue, highlighted by mixing in Kimera’s The White, shaded by mixing in Scale75 Art Permanent Orange
    • Red: Kimera’s The Red, shaded by mixing in Kimera’s Phthalo Green.
    • Silver: Scale75 Black Metal, then Basilicanum Grey contrast, then Black Metal for highlights, then Thrash Metal, then Speed Metal.
    • Gold on the ram’s head: Necro Gold, then Guilliman Flesh, then Dwarven Gold, then Citrine Alchmy
    • Black: Scale75 Art Ink Black, highlights done by mixing in white ink

    • Blue: Scale75 Art Cobalt Blue, with Permanent Orange mixed in for shading and Kimera’s The White mixed in for highlights.
    • Red: Kimera’s The Red with a mix of Cobalt Blue and Permanent Orange used to shade. Kimera’s Cold Yellow used fora highlight.
    • Black/White/Grey: Scale75 Art Ink Black and White.
    • Silver: Scale75 Black Metal, Heavy Metal and Silver Alchemy, shaded with Basilicanum Grey.
    • Lenses: Scale75 Art Spring Green, Kimera’s Cold Yellow, Kimera’s Carbon Black and Kimera’s The White. The red lens is Kimera’s The Red and Cold Yellow with Carbon Black and The White.
    • Gold: Scale75 Necro Gold, then Dwarven Gold, then Citrine Alchemy, washed with Guilliman Flesh and then a further recess wash of Scale75 Art Chestnut Ink mixed with Carbon Black.

    Loosely inspired by the Spectator from Baldur’s Gate 2.

    • Undercoat: Vallejo Mecha Black
    • Red: Kimera The Red, shaded with Slaughter Red, dot highlights of Scale75 white ink, then Kimera Cold Yellow, then the lot washed with Magmadroth Flame with the occasional bit of Berserker Bloodshade mixed in. Tongue was drybrushed with The White and washed with Baal Red contrast with a shade of Sigvald Burgundy. Shade of Targor Rageshade in the non-circular skin bumps.
    • Green: Kimera Phthalo Green, then drybrushed with The White mixed with that, then a wash of Shamrock Green from Army Painter followed by a wash of Orc Skin in the recesses.
    • Bone: The White fofllowed by Bony Matter. Teeth then had Mortarion Grime all over them with a little bit of Targor Rageshade for between the teeth.
    • Base: Moss Green Soilworks then Mars followed by Gypsum on the rocks, with a little bit of Ash mixed in in patches.

    This sculpt is from Satyr Studios and goes by the name of Dawn, and the sculpt clearly riffs on Brother Anderton/Longun from the Rogue Trader days. Wearing a Vetus pattern backpack, scaled down to 90 percent.

    • Yellow: Kimera The White followed by Cold Yellow, shaded with a blend of Cold Yellow and Scale75 Artist Magenta SART-23. Warmed up a little with Kimera’s Warm Yellow. Highlights of White Ink then Yellow Ink SART-73.
    • Red: Kimera’s The Red mixed with Cobalt Bluegreen, followed by The Red mixed with Cold Yellow. Further layering of Toluidine Red mixed with Phthalo Green, then glazed with The Red. Highlights of Warm Yellow followed by The White.
    • Leather: Kimera Oxide Brown Light, shaded with Cobalt Blue. A confused mix of blends after that.
    • Base: Goblin Green, highlighted with a drybrush of The White, glazed with Yellow Ink, overall glaze with Goblin Green again to knock it back a little
    • Bone colour: Scale75 Off White mixed with The White. Shaded with Kimera Oxide Brown Dark. Highlight of The White.
    • Ammo: Carbon Black, highlighted with The White, wash of Yellow Ink, further wash of Chestnut Ink, highlight of The White
    • Ammo: Decayed Metal, Victorian Brass, Moonstone Alchemy then a wash of Chestnut Ink, then another highlight of Moonstone Alchemy.
    • Lenses: Spring Green, with a highlight of Yellow Ink, further highlight of White Ink, shaded with Carbon Black, highlight of The White
    • Silver: Black Metal, then Thrash Metal, then Speed Metal, then White Alchemy, then Nuln Oil Gloss, then some Carbon Black to knock back the gloss a little (no regular Nuln), then Speed Metal and White Alchemy again to bring the highlights back.

    Rogue Trader Imperial Guard Commissar with Las-Gun

    This Imperial Guard Commissar was a 1988 sculpt by Mark Copplestone, and goes by Commissar with Las-Gun (as does another one, but this chap is the one who isn’t pointing).

    • Skin: Kimera The Red, Cold Yellow, Carbon Black and The White all mixed together in varying amounts over and over again until I was less disappointed than when I started.
    • Yellow was Cold Yellow, shaded with The Red. Red is The Red, shaded with Carbon Black and highlighted with Cold Yellow.

    This is a tank from back in my childhood where I really wanted plasma sponsons… so here it is returned to me many years later.

    Paints used:

    • Silver: Vallejo Metal Color Steel
    • Black: Scale75 Art Black, highlighted with a mix of Art Black and Pro Acryl Titanium White
    • Plasma Glow: Scale75 Inktense Lime and Inktense White, surrounding glow done with a mix of Spring Green and Titanium White
  • Dirty Down Rust over a metallic base

    This is undiluted Dirty Down rust roughly applied with a cheap brush onto a Necromunda base which had been prepped with a mid silver, drybrushed over with a light silver (in this instance Heavy Metal brushed over with Speed Metal):

  • Garaghak’s Sewer contrast over a metallic paint

    Testing out the new Garaghak’s Sewer contrast paint over a metallic paint, drybrushed with a lighter metallic (in this instance Heavy Metal brushed over with Speed Metal). Starting base:
